Peugeot Paris Pepper Mills Customisation and Social Media Campaign
THE CHALLENGE
Peugeot Saveurs Germany approached me with a project idea to turn 3 of their iconic Paris pepper mills into art. While doing so, they asked me to document my process and make my Instagram community part of it through sharing content - stories, reels, posts.
How might we turn a pepper mill from a functional kitchen utensil to a work of art one wants to use as well as display on their dinner table?
THE PROCESS
I’ve started my process researching Peugeot Saveurs’ brand values: Pleasure, Joy, Taking Time, Pride, Appreciation, Enjoying the Moment and French Attitude to Life. Getting more and more aware of what the brand stands for, I came up with the idea of framing this customisation process as a way to turn the pepper mills into mediums through which the brand messages can be delivered in a tangible, fun, artsy and joyful way.
Thinking about the use of such utensils, I have realised that a one-of-a-kind, colourful, pepper mill might also operate as a conversation starter with others while dining together!
Objects generate storytelling, they encapsulate meanings and ultimately create space for interaction.
The pepper mills can become objects through which it is possible to experience joy, togetherness and ultimately express each one's uniqueness.
THE OUTCOME
Inspired by the new Peugeot colorful ParisRama collection, I have expanded my usual color palette adding darker shades. I wanted to create a color code merging my pastel world with the brand’s pop collection. Of course, I’ve spiced it all up with some sassy, empowering taglines.
I have combined the colors in a way that the mills would look harmonious when standing next to each other - as a tiny handmade capsule collection. Nevertheless, they can shine on their own as well!
Additionally, I did not limit myself to the mills customisation, but worked “hacking” the original packaging they came with with the idea of it being a visual witness of the takeover.
Along with the customisation work, I’ve created Instagram photo and video content to involve my online community and ultimately support Peugeot to engage with new audiences in a creative way. The campaign ended with a giveaway giving the opportunity to three people to win one pepper mill!
